PermaTherm Pipe Insulation Systems
Pipe Insulation System

PermaTherm is a premier manufacturer and supplier of EPS rigid foam insulation for ammonia refrigerant, chilled water piping, and HVAC mechanical equipment. Insulation is the key component for the overall performance of the coldservice or refrigerant system. If there are failures in the insulation system, repairs are costly. PermaTherm has developed a complete system for chilled water and refrigeration systems.

PermaTherm's success is evident in the millions of linear feet of trouble-free EPS pipe insulation installed for building owners and commercial/industrial installations. Installation contractors and maintenance crews value the easy of installation and re-installation as well as the lifecycle endurance and efficiency that comes with the PermaTherm pipe insulation system.

EPS Foam Double Layered Insulation System

The system benefits include:

A CONSTANT K FACTOR
Since the K-factor does not change as it ages, PermaTherm insulation will not lose thermal efficiency over time.  The efficiency you specify is the efficiency you get, month after month, year after year.

STABLE BLOWING AGENTS
Since PermaTherm's EPS manufacturing process utilizes air rather than exotic blowing agents, there are no volatile gases within the cells that can diffuse out of the cells to lower thermal insulating properties and result in off-gassing to the environment. EPS pipe insulation is an inert and stable product which is recyclable and environmentally friendly.

FLAME AND SMOKE PROPERTIES
PermaTherm insulation meets the industry standard of flame spread/smoke development of 25/50 under ASTM E 84 where required.

CLOSED CELL STRUCTURE
The unique closed cell structure of PermaTherm insulation will not “wick” water, thereby providing you the greatest operating efficiency. Moisture resistance equals thermal efficiency.

DIMENSIONAL STABILITY
PermaTherm EPS is dimensionally stable over a range of temperatures and has a low coefficient of expansion. Combined with other attributes, this leads to a pipe insulation system that will retain the thermal integrity of the piping system in spite of changes to the pipe fluid or ambient environment.

CFC AND HCFC-Free
PermaTherm does not use chlorofluorocarbons or hydro-chlorofluorocarbons in the EPS manufacturing process.  You get 100% reduction in ozone depletion potential compared to other CFC and HCFC containing insulations. For more information go to PermaTherm EPS Data Sheet.

EASY TO HANDLE
PermaTherm insulation is lightweight and exhibits excellent compressive strength, so it’s easy for you to handle, ship, store, and install.

RAPID INSTALLATION
PermaTherm can prefabricate much of the refrigerant system in house. Complicated vale group and fittings can be pre fabricated allow for labor savings and lower cost installations.

“ZERO” ppm LEACHABLE CHLORIDES
PermaTherm insulation has no leachable chlorides; it will not cause stress corrosion cracking in austenitic stainless steels.

A properly selected, specified, and installed thermal insulation system is a low cost approach while still providing superior life-cycle returns via its excellent thermal performance and environmental attributes.  PermaTherm’s EPS piping system will deliver the best performance with the highest savings at every phase of the project, yielding tremendous savings in terms of reduced energy use, increased process efficiency and reduced Carbon Equivalency (CE) and greenhouse gases.
